Who Makes Primo Ceramic Grills?
Primo Ceramic Grills has been manufacturing American-made charcoal kamado grills since 1996. Founded by George, who started by hand-making just two grills at a time and driving them across town to a kiln for firing, Primo has grown into one of the most respected names in ceramic grill manufacturing. Every Primo grill is still made in the United States with premium-grade ceramic that delivers superior heat retention, moisture retention, and flavor you cannot achieve with a metal grill.
In 2002, Primo introduced a game-changing innovation: the patented oval-shaped kamado grill. While traditional kamado grills are round, Primo's oval design increases usable cooking surface by 30% and — more importantly — creates two distinct cooking zones on the same grill. One side for direct-flame searing, the other for indirect low-and-slow smoking, all in a single cook. No other kamado brand offers this dual-zone flexibility without accessories or workarounds. The oval shape also accommodates rib racks, briskets, and other large cuts that do not fit easily in a round grill.
Today Primo offers their oval kamado in four sizes — Junior (200 sq in), Large (300 sq in), X-Large (400 sq in), and XX-Large (500 sq in) — plus a classic round model. Each grill is available as a head-only unit for built-in outdoor kitchen installations or as a complete freestanding package with a heavy-duty stand, side shelves, and tools. A full ecosystem of accessories — heat deflectors, grate extensions, pizza stones, griddle plates, rotisserie kits, and cypress tables — lets you customize your Primo for any cooking style.
